OVERVIEW

Plans, organizes and manages all activities relating to the over-all engineering management of Design, Procure and Construct contracts. Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have impact on the execution of engineering and construction projects and related activities of the company.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Manages a group of Project Managers, Project Engineers and other Technical professionals sufficient to support an optimum level of projects ranging in size (dollar and resource) and degree of complexity. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, performance review training and employee severances.

 

EDUCATION

 

A four year degree or equivalent is required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

Four (4) year engineering degree and at least 15 years design engineering experience. Professional Licensing is also required at this level.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares and manages annual labor and expense budgets for the Project Management Group.
  • Participates in home office engineering estimate preparation and approves the engineering department manhour estimates.
  • Participates in proposal presentation and business activities.
  • Participates in project design and construction reviews for all projects and alliances.
  • Establishes the Scope Of Work and level of effort required for each project, consistent with estimated hours and deliverables committed to in the proposal.
  • Interfaces with Project Managers and Engineers to determine specific project staffing needs.
  • Approves requisitions and expense reports for overhead costs within the discipline.
  • Approves all time sheet charges both billable and non-billable for the Project Management department.
  • Ensures that the appropriate level of Project Controls are initiated on all projects.
  • Assigns Project Managers to all proposals and RFP.
  • Ensures that all projects follow the guidelines contained in the Project Management manual.
  • Ensures the Technical capabilities of all Project Management Staff.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical systems design and application system documentation. Ability to present technical presentations in writing and verbally to managers and other key personnel. Presentation skills include basic knowledge of the use of PowerPoint, one gun projectors, meeting facilitation skills, Visio and Excel charts and other basic graphical presentation tools.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Basic mathematical, algebraic equations and trignometric functions required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

Occasionally, will conduct or participate in a field trip to operating plants, construction sites or other office complexes. This requires the ability to stand, walk, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.

 

 WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Nonnal work environment will be a business office with moderate noise. Occasionally, will conduct or participate in a field trip to operating plants, construction sites or other office complexes. This may require expsosure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noises, work near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.
