OVERVIEW

The successful candidate will provide planning, design and construction expertise for Process engineering. The candidate will work on site at the client’s facility participating on engineering projects from original concept to field follow-up, this includes working with other members of the on site Design/Engineering Team as well as other on site discipline groups within the facility.

 

As part of a multi-disciplinary team you will apply Process engineering capabilities to a variety of small Capital projects.

Overall Objectives

  • Provide support for conceptual design of projects
  • Lead projects from Identify through the Assess project process phases. In addition, help develop margin improvement ideas and project economic justifications.
  • Provide on-going process engineering support and approvals through project completion and start-up.

 

Accountabilities for Health Safety and Environmental:

  • Maintain close relationships with process and discipline specialists
  • Provide technical assistance for permit applications associated with projects

 

Accountabilities for Process Engineering:

  • Ensure all process designs are safe, technically sound and meet Company standards.
  • Support completion of Project Initiation Forms
  • Develop Project Premise Document
  • Provide DOVAMO and other economic evaluations throughout the project phases
  • Support the Basis for Design and detailed design for projects as needed to ensure success of the project
  • Communicate project status with production teams
  • Support process engineering activities during construction and startup as needed
  • Work with Discipline Specialist to understand and account for process impacts on equipment

 

Process Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Working with other on site members of the Clients Process Group as well as other discipline groups within the facility
  • Involved in various aspects of project planning, design and construction
  • Developing flow diagrams, heat and material balances, process design and assessment of mechanical equipment, hydraulic modeling, and design of over-pressure protection for new and existing equipment
  • Engineering and process design for pressure vessels, tanks, pumps, and compressors
  • Prepare manufacturing and purchasing specifications, including drawings, manufacturing briefs and procedures.
  • Preparing request for quote packages
  • Providing engineering support during construction
  • Provide technical direction to junior staff.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with other discipline groups and adhere to all safety standards
  • Must be able to go into field to assess project requirements, climb stairs and ladders, etc.
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork-oriented

Conduct field trips as necessary to gather operating data and equipment information required to develop the project scope. This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.

 

All candidates must pass background checks, pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, and pass client site specific safety training requirements.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to senior management, public groups and/or boards of directors.    

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

Occasionally, will conduct or participate in a field trip to an operating plant or construction site. This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Normal work environment will be a business office with moderate noise. Occasionally, may visit or be temporarily assigned to work in an operating plant or at an construction site. This may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, work near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.
