OVERVIEW

Performs, with little direction and discretionary judgment, all the basic accounting functions for an engineering and construction company. Responsibilities can be related to a project or corporate process.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Normally supervise 1 or more accounting employees and/or sections within the Accounting Department.

 

EDUCATION

 

Requires a 2 or 4 year degree in Accounting or related functional area and/or equivalent knowledge/experience.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

Requires at least 8 years experience in accounting including extensive knowledge of the core operations (e. g. accounts payable, billing, payroll, cash management, general ledger, projects, etc.). Computer proficient and able to understand and administer client contracts and agreements.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates and contributes in project and department meetings.
  • Member of QITs.
  • Supervise/prepare client invoices.
  • Supervise/prepare vendor payments.
  • Supervise/process payroll. 
  • Financial reporting.
  • Account reconciliation and analysis.
  • Cash and treasury management.
  • Review and set up client contracts.
  • Salary administration.
  • Gross margin review.
  • Collections.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Ability to read and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, client contracts, sub-contracts, and government regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to write accounting policies and procedures. Must be able to verbally communicate with all levels of management.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Proficient in the use of standard business/financial mathematical functions.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance. Lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. Require close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Occasionally, will conduct or participate in a field trip to existing or new plants. This may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals and airborne particles.
