SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Plan and supervise Assistant Superintendents and/or Craft General Foremen.

 

EDUCATION

 

High school diploma or equivalent required.  A combination of college level or continuing education in construction technology and/or engineering related curricula plus 10 years experience preferred.    The required levels of the Supervisors Academy must be completed within 90 days of hire or promotion to this position

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum of four (4) years supervisory experience in petrochemical, power generation or heavy industrial construction technology, methods, equipment, tools and work procedures.  Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to control and supervise large groups is essential.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate assigned work with work of different crafts, departments, or other contractors.
  • Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, planning and scheduling to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, cost and schedule.
  • Assist in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, constructability problems, etc.) as required.
  • Assure total compliance with EEOC laws, rules and regulations.  Report any infractions to management immediately. 
  • Assist the Legal Department with Labor Relations and resolving disputes.
  • Requisition required manpower from the Craft Personnel and Training Department.
  • Assist the Craft Personnel and Training Department with training of craft personnel.
  • Monitor craft compliance with project safety process requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
  • Maintain liaison with other departments (i.e., Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
  • Manage craft composite hourly rate.
  • Manage craft productivity.  (Experience Index or E/I)
  • Manage field change orders (FCO) and request for information (RFI) 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering design drawings, technical procedures and specifications, government regulations, business correspondence and manuals.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures.  Ability to effectively verbally communicate directions to craft supervisors and respond to questions from clients, managers and fellow workers.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Ability to calculate manpower needs and review numerical, statistical data.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance.  Lifting up to 50 Lbs. is required.  Vision must be clear at close and distance with depth perception and the ability to focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Normal work environment will be construction sites within operating plants.  This will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, work near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborn particles.
