OVERVIEW

An Oracle Technical Subject Matter Expert reports to senior accounting management and provides technical planning guidance, setup expertise and hands-on support to Oracle users and liaises with in-house Oracle developers and consultants.  This individual has a comprehensive knowledge of project accounting and financial accounting functions and a deep technical and functional knowledge of Oracle software especially Oracle Projects, Oracle Payables, Oracle Receivables, Oracle Purchasing, Oracle General Ledger, Oracle Fixed Assets and Oracle Cash Management. The Subject Matter Expert will manage the business side of all Oracle updates and upgrades and is the point of contract for all interfaces to and from the ERP.  This individual maintains a formal log of software setups, changes and problems with resolutions and may manage a team of other business intelligence employees.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

May supervise and administer salaries for employees and/or provide technical expertise and direction to others in the S&B organization.

 

EDUCATION

 

Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business- related discipline.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Requires at least 5 years’ experience in accounting, including extensive knowledge of the core operations (e. g. accounts payable, billing, payroll, cash management, general ledger, projects, tax, etc.).
  • Requires deep technical knowledge of Oracle software including Oracle Projects, Oracle Payables, Oracle Receivables, Oracle General Ledger, Oracle Purchasing, Oracle Fixed Assets and Oracle Cash Management.
  • Knowledge of other ERPs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Conversant with Project Management tools (Jira, Wrike, et al)
  • Conversant with data analytics tools
  • Has the ability to assess the necessity and proficiency of business processes.
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Knowledge of SQL a plus.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Catalog, prioritize, status, document and troubleshoot data and functional anomalies for Oracle users.
  • Perform Oracle functional setup steps.
  • Perform “first round” testing on new Oracle features and reports.
  • Collect, document and prioritize user needs communicating these to accounting management and IT support team.
  • Assess current usefulness and practicality of Oracle functionality and assist accounting management with systems modifications, planning and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with Oracle users outside the Finance Team and provide advice on data interfaces.
  • Manage all Oracle upgrades and updates.
  • Develop and coordinate Oracle external interface requirements and data extractions (client invoice intake systems, audit requirements, etc.)
  • Oversee, participate in and contribute to meetings at any organizational level.
  • Salary administration and performance reviews.
  • Participates in 360 reviews for self and direct reports.
  • Builds and cultivates strong cross-functional relationships to improve business processes.
  • Mentors, coaches and recognizes top talent.
  • Understands and supports the company’s safety and quality values.
  • Other duties as assigned

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Has the ability to interpret and apply information contained in business periodicals, professional journals, client contracts, subcontracts, and governmental regulations as well as; to compose reports, procedures, business correspondence, training material and formal presentations.  Has the ability to verbally communicate well with all organizational levels. Job success often hinges upon interpersonal communication and relationship development skills, and job tasks require frequent interchange and successful completion depends in large part upon effective interaction and communication with others.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Proficient in the use of standard business/financial mathematical functions.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance. Lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. Require close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Occasionally, will conduct or participate in a field trip to existing or new plants. This may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals and airborne particles.
