OVERVIEW

A Senior Project Accounting Analyst – Accountant 5 acts as a liaison between the Project Accounting and Commercial teams to ensure S&B’s contracts are commercially sound and support the organization. This analyst is familiar with all project accounting functions including contract interpretation, project setup, employee compensation matters and labor law, transactional tax rules, supplier and client relationships, joint venture and consortium accounting, collections, project closeout requirements as well as detailed project cost and revenue analysis. This individual reviews and edits draft client contracts, participates in detailed contract reviews, collaborates with the estimating, operations and commercial teams to prepare proposals, commercial rate analyses, and comprehensive bases of reimbursement as well as providing contract implementation guidance to project accounting management.

EDUCATION

 

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business-related discipline.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project accounting and a minimum of 3 years industry experience.
  • Conversant with the commercial aspects of industrial engineering and construction contracts
  • Extensive knowledge of core accounting operations (payables, receivables, billing, payroll, cash analysis, financial reporting).
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
  • Advanced writing skills (technical financial and contract language)
  • Conversant with data analytics tools
  • Oracle EBS experience preferred.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews and edits the commercial aspects of draft client contracts for propriety.
  • Manages data and workflow between finance, estimating, operations and commercial teams during proposal and rate development process.
  • Prepares annual “boilerplate” rate sheets and bases of reimbursement for all business lines.
  • Develops and/or award-specific commercial documents, bases of reimbursement and rate sheets for all proposals and awards.
  • Reviews and compares active contracts to draft contracts and contracts for new work.
  • Develops labor and non-labor rate management models for analysis.
  • Manages client relationships.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Builds and cultivates strong cross-functional relationships to improve business processes.
  • Participates in 360 reviews for self.
  • Mentors, coaches and recognizes top talent.
  • Understands and supports the company’s safety and quality values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

General - Has the ability to interpret and apply information contained in business periodicals, professional journals, client contracts, subcontracts, and governmental regulations as well as; to compose reports, procedures, business correspondence, training material and formal presentations. Has the ability to verbally communicate well with all organizational levels.  Job success often hinges upon interpersonal communication and relationship development skills, and job tasks require frequent interchange and successful completion depends in large part upon effective interaction and communication with others.

 

Specific – Advanced writing skills (technical financial and contract language)

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Proficient in the use of standard business/financial mathematical functions.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance. Lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. Require close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Occasionally, will conduct or participate in a field trip to existing or new plants. This may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals and airborne particles.
